During March 17-20th, Dr. Godwin, Dr. Young, Dr. Haig and Dr. Doswell attended the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA) Annual Conference in Orlando, FL. While at the Conference, Dr. Doswell received two awards. First, she was recognized for graduating from the first “Power of Ten” class of the FVMA. The Power of Ten is a leadership training program for up and coming leaders in the profession. Dr. Doswell also received a “Gold Star Award,” in recognition of the leadership she has already shown as president of the Brevard County Veterinary Medical Association.
The Annual Conference also provided our veterinarians with cutting-edge resources for continuing education. The FVMA offers a wide range of seminars of topics. Some of their favorites were:
- Dr. Godwin: Breathing problems, urinary tract surgery, care of neurologic patients, bone cancer, elbow disease and ear infections
- Dr. Young: Anesthesia and pain management, endocrinology, diabetes, and dermatology
- Dr. Haig: Management of Mitral Valve Heart Disease, New Approaches to Urinary Tract Infections
- Dr. Doswell: Liver and gall bladder diseases, diseases of birds and small mammals, dental surgery, and management of Cushing’s Disease.
We appreciate all their efforts on bringing what they’ve learned back to AMC!
